THE WINERY

When we opened The Winery in central Queenstown in May 2005 we were one of the world's first and largest wine tasting experiences. With a focus on bringing the best of New Zealand wine to one location, The Winery's reputation grew and in 2019 we were recognised by TripAdvisor in the World's Top 10 wine experiences People's Choice Awards.

In February 2020 The Winery opened a second store in Arrowtown, taking the experience to the next level with more whisky and gin tastings, our famous cheeseboards with a new tapas menu and a decor designed for the relaxation and comfort of our customers. Sauvignon Blanc.  Whole bunch pressed straight to barrel with no added enzymes, SO2 or yeasts.

Wild natural fermentation, followed by 100% malolactic fermentation with SO2 added after fermentation. Lees stirred at the on-set of malolactic fermentation and left to settle for 9 months in 265 litre cigar and some 600 Demi Muid barrels.

Assembled and racked to two 5 year old 600 litre Demi Muid barrels for a further 9 months. It was then racked to tank where it naturally settled for 2 months to allow bottling, unfiltered.

"Complex and detailed bouquet with layers of citrus peel and white spice then lemon and cape gooseberry, wild flowers and a sandy mineral suggestion. A dry wine on the palate with perhaps a delicate spritz to the acid line line. Flavours of citrus and peach then wild flowers and orchard fruits follow. Complex, well made, natural and refreshing style. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2030." 92/100 Points, Cameron Douglas MS, October 2025
