Who makes it
Amisfield was established in 1988 by John Darby in the early days of Central Otago winegrowing.
The estate is a 93-hectare single estate vineyard beneath Mount Pisa, certified organic by BioGro New Zealand.
For the 2025 vintage, the fruit came from Block 8 on the upper terrace of the vineyard. It was picked over approximately 1 month, with the picking dates chosen to suit the flavour profile and style Amisfield desire in there Sauvignon Blanc style.
About the vintage
Wine writer Joelle Thomson reported an early November frost during flowering in Central Otago that caused minor losses, although excellent weather during flowering ensured good fruit set.
The season was dry, with cool nights and warm days and no extreme hot or cool periods. Picking proceeded at a measured pace. Yields were comparable to 2024 and 2023, marginally reduced by frost, and she noted acidity levels that support longevity.
