THE WINERY

When we opened The Winery in central Queenstown in May 2005 we were one of the world's first and largest wine tasting experiences. With a focus on bringing the best of New Zealand wine to one location, The Winery's reputation grew and in 2019 we were recognised by TripAdvisor in the World's Top 10 wine experiences People's Choice Awards.

In February 2020 The Winery opened a second store in Arrowtown, taking the experience to the next level with more whisky and gin tastings, our famous cheeseboards with a new tapas menu and a decor designed for the relaxation and comfort of our customers. Sweet Sensation - New Zealand Riesling Selection

Riesling's ability to express its terroir is second-to-none. Couple this with its natural high acidity and the balancing natural sweetness and we have many variations on a hedonistic theme. Lucky us!  Vibrant in youth, complex and long-lived in the cellar, this is a seductive selection of the most noble of grape varieties.

Lovely examples of the sweeter style Riesling. 4 of these wines are from Central Otago and 2 from Marlborough!  You'll be spoilt for choice. Natural high sugars are balanced with acid to produce easy drinking styles of Riesling.

  • Saint Clair Pioneer Block 9 'Big John' Riesling
  • Carrick 'Josephine' Riesling

Fantastic drink now wines but will develop well if left to cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled as an aperitif or enjoy on a sunny afternoon. Great with cheeses or summer desserts too.
