Winemakers Notes: 100% Waiheke coastal single site “The 8 Vineyard”. A rich and complex, powerful yet elegant blend of 8 varieties. This wine symbolises the combinations of blood spilt over hundreds of years of tribal conflicts. Blend: cabernet sauvignon 36%, merlot 17%, petit verdot 15.5%, cabernet franc 8.5%, tanned 8.5%, syrah 8%, viognier 3.5%, kolor 3%.
This wine is a tribute to my Grandmother Marthe, the 13th child of her family, and her son, my father Patrick, born 13 December, his lucky number. A unique wine that comes from only one place. A long hot dry vintage resulting in a highly concentrated and elegant expression suited to extensive cellar ageing under correct conditions. A harmonious and complex wine with great length and fine grainy tannins. Unfined and minimally filtered. Cellar 13-15 ºC. Drink 2016 – 2030+
