Thyme Hill Merlot 2015
Thyme Hill
Don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a wine by its label.
We presented 2 vintages of this wine "blind" (the bottles concealed in paper bags) to our local sommelier group at the end of a French Bordeaux tasting, and they were surprised and impressed by this wine.
Produced from the southernmost Merlot vineyard in the world, this 2015 Thyme Hill Merlot is a cracker!
Inge Diks purchased this overrun vineyard in 2011 and has meticulously improved the vineyard and produced one of the few Central Otago reds that isn't a Pinot Noir.
Fragrant, with plum, currant, cranberry and of course, thyme, this is a medium bodied, cool-climate Merlot that is wonderful easy drinking.
